- סַמְתֵּר(preced. wds.) to apply an emollient, to heal. Targ. Job 34:17 יְסַמְתֵּר ed. Lag. (ed. יסתמר, Ms. יסטמר; corr. acc.; h. text יחבוש; cmp. סַמְתֵּירָא). (As regards formation of a verb from a compound noun, cmp. ברנש, P. Sm. 582.
